*Mastering The Dealings of The Spirit* (IV)

_Key Bible Text:_
*“Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;"* (Ephesians 5:17-19 (KJV) 

_Bible Insight:_
There are keys to mastering the dealings of the Spirit. We have been talking about them for a while now. We shall attempt to summarize the principal keys today. Let's begin with being filled with the Holy Spirit. Unless you desire to be filled, you will be empty. You can only be filled by desire and by doing the things that are compatible with the infilling of the Spirit. 

The next key is being prayerful, worshipful and obedient. Not just being prayerful but also listening to know the leading and promptings of the Spirit and obeying them. You can't have the Holy Spirit present and you ignore or disobey him. Use Spirit inspired songs to stay conscious of the presence of the Holy Spirit. Disobedience grieves the Holy Spirit and repeated disobedience makes you become accustomed to not knowing what the Holy Spirit is saying or whether He is even saying anything. 

The third key is to develop friendship with the Holy Spirit. Speak with him from time to time, like you are talking to yourself. Ask Him questions frequently. I often catch myself asking the Holy Spirit to help me answer questions rightly. Other times, I invite him to help me handle difficult situations aright. Never forget that the Holy Spirit is a person. Make time for him. Take him personal and seriously.

*And do not make God's Holy Spirit sad; for the Spirit is God's mark of ownership on you, a guarantee that the Day will come when God will set you free.* (Ephesians 4:30 GNB)
