Birth Pangs For A New Nigeria

*Birth Pangs For A New Nigeria*

_Key Bible Text:_
*And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward: But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.* (Exodus 14:15-16 (KJV))

_Bible Insight:_
I have often argued that the black man and especially most Nigerian Christians have a funny idea of how God answers prayers. We have been praying for things to change and now the change begins and some people are still praying. I guess we think that we will wake up one day and have a new Nigeria.

Israel that God promised Canaan fought their way into Canaan. Every square inch of Canaan was secured with a terrible fight. And Israel continues to defend that piece of real estate with everything they’ve got. Every Israeli is a soldier. All of them. Innovation thrives there. Our understanding of the workings of God in this part of the world is sickening.

When Moses and the nation of Israel came face to face with the Red Sea; Moses started praying. Here was God’s answer:

“Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on. Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground.”

I mean, God asked Moses why he was crying to Him. The time for crying to God had passed. It was now the time to take action. I see the same thing playing out now. This is a Kairos moment. We must not miss this in the name of praying and fake spirituality.
