*UNDERSTANDING THE HEART* (2)

_Key Bible Text:_
*And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done*
(Genesis 8:21 (KJV))

_Bible Insight:_
The heart is not naturally good. The heart of man is evil from his youth. Even God gave up cursing the ground for the sake of man. His rationale is simple: for a man's whose heart is evil, there is nothing cursing the ground will do to help him. He will become more evil. The solution lies elsewhere. This was revealed several years later-- in Christ Jesus.

No one has a good enough heart, unless and until they encounter Jesus Christ. Even then, that is not all there is to the matter. The heart left by itself will run off tangent. It must be deliberately and continuously guarded & guided.

God made a striking revelation about what to do for the heart of man:- Ezekiel 11:19-20 (KJV): "And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh: That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God."

MEDITATION:
*Only the work of grace can recreate the heart of man. There is no good enough heart that develops through civilization and education. Only the transformation power of the Gospel can help the heart of man*
