Be Versed

*DAILY DEW 25TH/NOVEMBER/2020*

*Be Versed*

_Key Bible Text:_
*This Ezra came up from Babylon. He was a teacher well versed in the law of Moses, which the Lord, the God of Israel, had given. The King granted him everything he asked, for the hand of the Lod his God was on him.* (Ezra 7: 6 NIV)

_Bible Insight:_
In the preceding verses before verse 6, we see the genealogy of Ezra being traced all the way to Aaron the Priest. This would immediately tell us that this person called Ezra is one to look out for, especially because the bible is very meticulous with the information it gives.

Ezra being from the lineage of Aaron showed that he was a Levite, a Priest of God and the bible makes mention of the fact that he was well versed in the law of Moses. This tells us another thing about Ezra. *Ezra had made a conscious decision and put in the effort to understand the law until he became well versed in it.*

In 1st Peter 2:9 (KJV) the bible tells us that we are a royal priesthoods, in other words, we are like the Ezra of our day. We are accepted by God and have been called into his Kingdom but the question we are to answer is this; are we well versed in the scriptures that guide the Kingdom to which we belong?

Our first lesson from the life of Ezra is that we ought to show ourselves as well versed in scripture because being versed is not a function of our position in Christ but more about what we do with the access we have.

2nd Timothy tells us that we should study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15 KJV) The operative word there being for us to study.

Also, Joshua 1:8 tells us that: "This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success." The emphasis here will be for us to meditate on the word of God day and night.

Being well versed does not just happen, we have to, as explained in scripture, continuously study and meditate on the word.

MEDITATION:
