Kingdom PARTNERSHIP (IV)

*Kingdom PARTNERSHIP* (IV)

_Key Bible Text:_
*"And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;"* (Acts 15:39 (KJV))

*"Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry."* (2 Timothy 4:11 (KJV))

_Bible Insight:_
Refer to our last reflection on this subject- part 3. We saw the sharp disagreement between Paul and Barnabas concerning Mark. Now guess what? Later in 2 Timothy, here is the same Apostle appealing that Mark should be brought to him because Mark is very profitable to him in the ministry! Wow! What a U-turn, and a change of opinion. What do you think actually happened?!

I don't know exactly what happened but a number of things come to mind. When Paul disagreed about Mark going with them on a missionary journey, Paul was not in prison. Writing to Timothy, Paul was at the time under house arrest and voila. Well, I am not saying that is the only thing that changed. It is also possible that over time, Mark has learned his lesson to not leave his partners in the middle of the work.

One thing is for sure: We need to learn to NOT rate people too badly because they have performed too unexpectedly. Imagine how Paul even fought with Barnabas because of Mark. If we label people too negatively because they messed up, and take decisions out of anger, we might be closing any future opportunity of something good coming from them.

Yet another great lesson is this: never be too proud to admit that your assessment of someone was too harsh or too negative. Paul later realized his error, if you asked me, and openly spake positively about Mark. For Mark to be "profitable" is the highest recommendation any minister can get. One more lesson: don't let bad ratings affect your motivation to work on yourself to become better. Mark did not allow the great Apostle's view of him, discourage him from working towards becoming a better version of himself.

MEDITATION:
*Don't be too quick to label people or situations negatively simply because they have done something you didn't expect. Always give people the benefit of the doubt. Always*
