*CLOSE BUT FAR*

_Key Bible Text:_
*This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.* (Matthew 15:8 (KJV))

_Bible Insight:_
There was this family that welcomed a girl, to stay with them for a space of a month. They knew the girl from the ministry were they both attended but have never met her parents. However, the girl, was always withdrawn to herself and even while supposedly helping out in the kitchen would either be with her books or with her big ear phones or her smartphone. She hardly started a conversation even while working with the woman of the house. Sometimes the woman would try starting a conversation, but the girl would only answer with a word or two and return to her phone, book or whatever. 

This story is quite a sad one. The man of the house later revealed how he hoped the girl's stay would be an opportunity for the girl to get closer to his wife. Unfortunately, the young lady remained quite close, even living in the same house, working in the same kitchen, but yet very very far away in her heart from this family. 

As I reflect upon this story, it struck me that many of us believers and church goers are like this young lady. We sing wonderful songs unto God, say loud prayers, even follow all the worship motions and church programs, yet our hearts are very far away from the love of our Saviour. This should be a wake up call to think through your relationship with the Saviour. Are you close but your heart is far away? 

MEDITATION: 
*Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)* (Hebrews 10:22-23 (KJV))

In answering this, we need to understand that it is the death and resurrection of Jesus on the cross that gives the cross its power.  "1. *DAILY DEW 24TH/DECEMBER/2021* *TRUSTING AGAINST ALL ODDS* _Key Bible Text:_ *"Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him."* (Job 13:15 (KJV))  _Bible Insight:_ It's an uphill task trying to understand God's plan, especially when we can't make logical sense of what we see happening to and around us. But we aren't instructed to understand His plans, but to TRUST HIM and be secure in the knowledge that He's working everything to ultimately turn out for our good.  God won't mismanage your life. Trust Him with it and be willing and quick to obey His instructions even when they don't fit into your parameter of what's logical.
