How Do I Walk In The Spirit? (II)

*DAILY DEW 22ND/JANUARY/2021*

*How Do I Walk In The Spirit?* (II)

_Key Bible Text:_
*For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.* (Romans 8:2, 4 (KJV))

_Bible Insight:_
There are certain practices that help us walk in the Spirit. One of such is *developing a daily practice of reading the Word of God* (Psalm 1:1-3) The word of God is to a person what gasoline is to a car. Without fuel, even the most expensive machine in the world will not operate. We have two spirits within us -- our own natural spirit called "the flesh", and the new nature called "the Spirit". The one we feed the most is the one which will control us.

We do not believe it is possible for a Christian to walk in the Spirit unless he develops the habit of regularly reading the Word to nurture his spiritual nature. That is where he gains the spiritual strength to walk in the Spirit. He also is given insight into the ways of God by reading the Word. As essential as it is to eat regularly to give you the strength to walk physically in this life, so it is essential to feed your mind on the Word of God daily to gain the spiritual strength to walk in the Spirit on a daily basis.

If you have experienced a difficult time being consistent in Bible Study, I have a suggestion for you. Take out the first period of the day after you wake up from sleep to read your bible or the last period of your day, before you sleep. Either one you choose, make a habit of it. If you can keep both periods, even better. In addition, form a habit of reading Christian materials regularly as well as listening to Christian messages and songs as often as possible. These will keep you "wet" enough to always make time and look forward to the bible study session. Such conditioning, enhances your ability to walk in the Spirit.

MEDITATION:
*You don't get to eat without a daily plan, likewise you need a plan to prioritize and make a discipline of reading the Word on a daily basis. By the way, have you wondered why the _Word of God_ is called the _Sword of the Spirit_?*
