How To Be Controlled By The Spirit (III)

*How To Be Controlled By The Spirit* (III)

_Key Bible Text:_
*For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.* (Romans 6:10-11 (KJV))

_Bible Insight:_
Aside dealing with your known sin, there is another important simple step to take towards being controlled by the Spirit: *Surrender your will completely to God*

Once cleansed of all known sin, you should tell God formally that you are 100 percent His -- that is, you are willing to do anything He instructs you to do. A procedure we have found helpful in this regard is for a person prayerfully to visualize himself lying on an Old Testament sacrificial altar. In your mind's eye picture yourself as a voluntary sacrifice.

In this formal dedication you are affirming, "Oh, Lord, I am fully yielded to Your control. I relinquish my mind, talents, family, vocation, money, and future. Please use me to Your glory". It is a very simple procedure, but extremely effective. Be sure to include in particular whatever the Lord has been speaking to you regarding your temper, fears, thought life, ambitions, etc.

The last simple step: *Ask to be controlled by the Holy Spirit* No that you have met the conditions for being filled with the Holy Spirit, simply ask Him to fill you. Our Lord Jesus admonished us, "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!" (Luke 11:13)

MEDITATION:
*God is more anxious to impart His Holy Spirit to His children than we parents are to give good gifts to ours*
