*THE SPIRIT FILLED LIFE & FAMILY LIVING* (II)

_Key Bible Text:_
*Don't be fools, then, but try to find out what the Lord wants you to do. Do not get drunk with wine, which will only ruin you; instead, be filled with the Spirit.* (Ephesians 5:17, 18(GNB)) 

_Bible Insight:_
It is important to see that the true test of our being filled with the Spirit is how we live at home, not what we do away from the home. If we can live the Spirit-controlled life at home, we can live it anywhere. The pressures that mount in family living certainly surpass any we encounter elsewhere. 

One lady misunderstood this fact and inadvertently admitted it when she enthusiastically exclaimed, "I just love coming to this church! I can really feel the warmth of the Spirit of God here! Unfortunately, I don't get that feeling at home. My husband and I are having such conflict that it's impossible for me to be filled with the Spirit there."

Very gently, I acquainted that dear sister with the truth that she was deceiving herself. If she were submitting to her husband, she could easily walk in the Spirit at home, whether or not he was obedient and showed love for her. She could enjoy church because she was free from the home's pressure-cooker atmosphere, where her rebellion against God and her husband continually confronted her. 

In her case, she was obedient to God in most things outside the home, so she could walk in the Spirit there; but at home she was in defiance of God and her husband. Consequently, mastery by the Spirit was impossible. When she faced her lack of submission as the hindrance to being controlled by the Spirit so she could manifest love, joy, peace, and so on, she quit thinking about the sins of her husband, began to face her own sin of rebellion, and went home controlled by the Spirit. Her husband couldn't believe the change in his wife, and in a few weeks he, too, experienced the filling of the Spirit. As you can imagine, it has transformed their home.

MEDITATION:
*You are controlled by the Spirit when there is no known sin, hindering your flow in the Spirit. Whatever causes you trouble in your flow in the Spirit, is a hindrance to your being filled and controlled in the Spirit. So if you are in an environment where you are prone to walk in disobedience, you will have a hindrance to your being controlled by the Spirit in such an environment. The problem is not the environment, however, but your refusal to walk in obedience*

In answering this, we need to understand that it is the death and resurrection of Jesus on the cross that gives the cross its power.  "1. *DAILY DEW 24TH/DECEMBER/2021* *TRUSTING AGAINST ALL ODDS* _Key Bible Text:_ *"Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him."* (Job 13:15 (KJV))  _Bible Insight:_ It's an uphill task trying to understand God's plan, especially when we can't make logical sense of what we see happening to and around us. But we aren't instructed to understand His plans, but to TRUST HIM and be secure in the knowledge that He's working everything to ultimately turn out for our good.  God won't mismanage your life. Trust Him with it and be willing and quick to obey His instructions even when they don't fit into your parameter of what's logical.
