*THE SPIRIT FILLED LIFE & FAMILY LIVING*

_Key Bible Text:_
*Don't be fools, then, but try to find out what the Lord wants you to do. Do not get drunk with wine, which will only ruin you; instead, be filled with the Spirit.* (Ephesians 5:17, 18(GNB)) 

_Bible Insight:_
The above verses provide the most specific command in the Bible related to being filled with the Holy Spirit. Just as a drunk is continually governed by alcohol, the wise Christian will be controlled by the Holy Spirit. Of particular interest, Ephesians 5:17-6:4, contains the most extensive instruction on family living to be found in the entire New Testament. That is why woman think that the Spirit-filled life is geared to family living not primarily to church activity. 

For example, note the structure of the passage: 
5:18-- The command to be controlled by the Spirit.
5:19,20-- The three results of Spirit controlled life. 
5:22-24 -- Wives are commanded to submit to their husbands 
5:25-33 -- Husbands are commanded to love their wise sacrificially. 
6:1-3 -- Children are commanded to obey their parents .
6:4-- Fathers are commanded to nature their children. 

When a Christian family is controlled by the Holy Spirit of God, the wife will submit to her husband, he will love her, the children will obey their parents, and the Father will take time to nurture his children in the Lord. Can you imagine that family that lives like that being miserable? Impossible! That is why we have never counselled a miserable spirit filled couple. 

MEDITATION:
*Clearly, the Spirit-controlled life is the real key to exciting family living.*

*DAILY DEW 16TH/SEPTEMBER/2021* *THE WAY OF THE CROSS* (II) _Key Bible Text:_ *Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.* (1 Peter 2:24 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ *Through Christ’s death on the cross, those who turn to Him are delivered from both the penalty and the power of sin.* (1 Peter 2:24 New American Standard Bible) What are the benefits that accrue to us from following the cross, or carrying the cross to follow Jesus? In answering this, we need to understand that it is the death and resurrection of Jesus on the cross that gives the cross its power.  "1. *DAILY DEW 24TH/DECEMBER/2021* *TRUSTING AGAINST ALL ODDS* _Key Bible Text:_ *"Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him."* (Job 13:15 (KJV))  _Bible Insight:_ It's an uphill task trying to understand God's plan, especially when we can't make logical sense of what we see happening to and around us. But we aren't instructed to understand His plans, but to TRUST HIM and be secure in the knowledge that He's working everything to ultimately turn out for our good.  God won't mismanage your life. Trust Him with it and be willing and quick to obey His instructions even when they don't fit into your parameter of what's logical.
