*THE SPIRIT OF KNOWLEDGE AND OF THE FEAR OF THE LORD* (II)

_Key Bible Text:_
*Then had the churches rest throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied.* (Acts 9:31 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
The Spirit of the Fear of The Lord is another very important mode through which the Holy Spirit exhibits Himself to us. A lot of times we speak of fear of the Lord as something negative. We must however remember that it is not. Instead, we should remember that the work of the Holy Spirit is to convict and he must necessarily use "fear" before he convicts or convinces a man.

The name the "Spirit of the Fear of the Lord" is the Holy Spirit reminding us that a man who does not fear God does not have the Spirit of God. God must be reverenced. God must be hallowed. God must be worshiped. God is a mystery. That sense of holy fear keeps us in awe and makes us never to get too familiar or too comfortable with the ways or word of God to the point of making light of it. *Due to the absence of this fear, many now fear what men will think and say more than what God have already said and thought!* What a tragedy!

Until we return to the ministry of the Holy Spirit as the one who puts a godly fear in us, we would continue to relegate the fear of God to the background to our detriment. The Love of God does not negate the principle of the fear of God. Those who relegate the fear of God to the background while only emphasizing the love of God, presents an incomplete and dangerous presentation of God. Perish that idea!

MEDITATION
*And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?* (Deuteronomy 10:12-13 (KJV))
