*LESSONS FROM NUMBERS 32* (II)
Key Bible text:
*And Moses said unto the children of Gad and to the children of Reuben, Shall your brethren go to war, and shall ye sit here?*
(Numbers 32:6 (KJV)
*_Bible Insight:_*
The story of King David failing to go to war when he ought to do so, comes to mind. It was a season when he ought to be at war instead he was busy catching cruise and literally playing to the gallery or rather lusting at the gallery. The devastating consequences are lessons we can never forget in a hurry.
The Israelites have started their journey after extra 20 years of aimless and avoidable sojourn in the wilderness. It was finally time to take the promise land. The children of Gad and Reuben wanted to get the land before the crossing of the river Jordan. This could mean that they would not need to cross over to the other side to help their brethren reclaim the rest of the promised land. Against such possibility, Moses warned them.
Today's lesson however is the fact that there are many who ought to be at the battle fronts and at the battle fields but they are rather at ease in Zion. They have dodged and evaded their responsibilities. There are fathers who have given up on their family responsibilities, leaving the children and wives to face the fierce battle by themselves. There are mothers who have do the same, leaving the fathers and children to go it all alone.
There are young folks preferring to while away valuable time and phase of their lives pursuing pleasure while their mates are busy paying the price for a better future. The list goes on. I don't know what fight or battle you are running away from. Have you sought the easy paths whereas you are called to do some fighting in order to make life better for yourself, family and unborn children?
Shall your brethren go to war and shall ye sit here?
MEDITATION:
*Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, which are named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came!.* (Amos 6:1 (KJV))
