*NUMBERS 32 LESSONS: DON'T ENCOURAGE DISCOURAGEMENT*

_Key Bible Text:_
*How dare you try to discourage the people of Israel from crossing the Jordan into the land which the LORD has given them? That is what your fathers did when I sent them from Kadesh Barnea to explore the land.* (Numbers 32:7-8 (GNB)

*_Bible Insight:_*
When Jesus spoke passionately about how he would die on the cross, Peter was totally taken aback and felt Jesus was just being emotional. He tried to "talk sense into" Jesus but unknown to him, he was actually trying to discourage Christ from fulfilling His core assignment on earth. All the mighty signs and wonders and powerful insightful teachings and parables would amount to sheer motivational talk if Christ had not died on the cross & resurrected on the third day. Knowing this, Jesus rebuked Peter in the most uncomplimentary manner. And He was rightly to have done such.   

Peter must have gotten the shock of his life at Jesus sharp rebuke that even referred to him vicariously as the devil. Jesus was not angry at Peter. Jesus was angry that Peter had lent himself to Satan to become a tool of discouragement to the cause of Christ, a cause that was the only route to the salvation of Mankind. 

When the Children of Gad and Reuben asked to be given the portion of the land lying before the crossing of the River Jordan, what they did not know was that this request could send the wrong signal to the rest of the people. Aware of the devastating consequences of such development, Moses had to rebuke them for their request which suggested a desire to stay back rather than go on with the rest of the people to reclaim God's promised land. 

Beloved, do not be easy on those who attempt (for they can only attempt but must never succeed) to derail you from the path and cause of your God given assignment. Many there are who may in their ill-advised concern for you try to talk sense into you but are actually doing you a disservice. Never encourage discouragement and don't you be a fellow in the discourages department. Be an encourager.

*Be careful that what you are doing, saying or asking is not discouraging someone whom you really should be supporting*

*DAILY DEW 24TH/DECEMBER/2021* *TRUSTING AGAINST ALL ODDS* _Key Bible Text:_ *"Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him."* (Job 13:15 (KJV))  _Bible Insight:_ It's an uphill task trying to understand God's plan, especially when we can't make logical sense of what we see happening to and around us. But we aren't instructed to understand His plans, but to TRUST HIM and be secure in the knowledge that He's working everything to ultimately turn out for our good.  God won't mismanage your life.
