*KEEP THE UNITY OF THE SPIRIT* (II)

_Key Bible Text:_
*Be always humble, gentle, and patient. Show your love by being tolerant with one another. Do your best to preserve the unity which the Spirit gives by means of the peace that binds you together.* (Ephesians 4:2-3 (GNB))

_Bible Insight:_
2. Long-suffering & forbearance:
Long-suffering is a word that means patience & endurance at the same time. Why is this characteristic important in the context of interpersonal relationships? That's simply because humans are not perfect. Some are nicer than others. Some are more obnoxious than others. Some are more lovely and cool to be with than others. However, for us to build and maintain unity, there is a need to imbibe this trait of long-suffering.

Whether in a marriage, business, corporate, ministry or any other group or community relations, long-suffering is key. The other keyword here is forbearance! Forbearance is tolerance. Again, long-suffering is necessary for forbearance to exist. Your level of tolerance is directly proportional to your level of long-suffering. Long-suffering is of wider usage and has usefulness even in non-interpersonal relationships. However, forbearance relates primarily to your interpersonal relationships.

These four attributes, loneliness, meekness, longsuffering and forbearance are the four essential ingredients for the peaceful co-existence of any and every human community. The bond of peace has these four attributes actively present at every point in time.

Are you struggling to make peace at your workplace or church or ministry or anywhere at all? Pause and reflect on these four attributes. Do you have them!? Most times we are quick to blame the other fellow and point accusing fingers but seriously, we ought to be looking inwards for these virtues. We can only influence others to reflect what we have exemplified and amplified. I pray the Lord to grant us understanding.

Remain blessed!

MEDITATION:
*Don't do anything from selfish ambition or from a cheap desire to boast, but be humble toward one another, always considering others better than yourselves .* (Philippians 2:3 (GNB))
