*GOOD CAN COME FROM BAD*

_Key Bible Text:_
*They will pursue us until we have led them away from the city. They will think that we are running from them, as we did before. Then you will come out of hiding and capture the city. The LORD your God will give it to you.* (Joshua 8:6-7 (NIV))

_Bible Insight:_
In Joshua 7:4(GNB), "about three thousand Israelites made the attack, but they were forced to retreat". They had suffered defeat at Ai, as a result of the sin of Achan. He confessed, "I saw a beautiful Babylonian cloak, about five pounds of silver, and a bar of gold weighing over one pound. I wanted them so much that I took them." His selfish lust cost the lives of Israelites in the hands of Ai: "The men of Ai chased them from the city gate as far as some quarries and killed about thirty-six of them on the way down the hill. Then the Israelites lost their courage and were afraid"

It was a sad day for Israel and Achan along with his wife and children paid with their lives. They were stoned, burned and buried with a heap of stones. But as bad as that was, who would think that good could come from bad? The question has often been asked, "can anything good come from Nazareth?" And the answer remains in the positive depending on your understanding and response. 

After taking correction, they approached the battle again using God's strategy. This time, Ai thought it would be business as usual. Joshua said, "My men and I will approach the city. When the men of Ai come out against us, we will turn and run, just as we did the first time." However, this time was different. The first defeat had opened a way to something positively different-- a good strategy for victory. Sometimes, life hits us hard, so that we can become wiser and strike a winsome comeback.

*God can and will always bring out something good from every bad thing that happens to us if only we repent, trust and obey him*

In answering this, we need to understand that it is the death and resurrection of Jesus on the cross that gives the cross its power.  "1. *DAILY DEW 24TH/DECEMBER/2021* *TRUSTING AGAINST ALL ODDS* _Key Bible Text:_ *"Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him."* (Job 13:15 (KJV))  _Bible Insight:_ It's an uphill task trying to understand God's plan, especially when we can't make logical sense of what we see happening to and around us. But we aren't instructed to understand His plans, but to TRUST HIM and be secure in the knowledge that He's working everything to ultimately turn out for our good.  God won't mismanage your life. Trust Him with it and be willing and quick to obey His instructions even when they don't fit into your parameter of what's logical.
