*THE DYNAMICS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS* (V)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous."* (1 John 3:7 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
A word about 1John 3:7 and consequence of not walking in righteousness is in order, even as we close this series of reflection on the dynamics of righteousness. By now, it should be clear that there are dual realities: the first is that our righteousness is entirely worthless outside of Christ and the righteousness we received is but a sheer work of Grace and a gift. The second is that, after we encounter Christ, God empowers us to walk in righteousness even as He is righteous.
Here is the simple logic: "*That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit."* John 3:6 (KJV) It is not normal that after the new birth, we would still be slaves to sin(flesh). Is Jesus the one who made many righteous a slave to sin/flesh? Not at all. So, since we are created in Christ unto good works, our nature also takes after Christ's. *According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.* (2 Peter 1:3-4 (KJV))
So therefore, we close with the blessed words of Scripture: *He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.* (1 John 3:8-10 (KJV))
For any sinful habit and pattern, there is solution in Christ. Reflect on the passages shared in this series. Pray and appropriate the finished work of Christ. Every sinful pattern must be recognized and confessed to God, and thereafter, steps must be taken to obey God on the matter. Shalom.
MEDITATION:
*For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them.* (Ephesians 5:5-7 (KJV))
