*REDISCOVERING THE WAY* (IV)

*This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy.* (2 Timothy 3:1-2 (KJV))  

_Bible Insight:_

Some years ago, the Pastorate of the branch of one of the popular or leading ministries in the world today approached us with a desire to buy the 'ministry', retain my Dad and other Pastors with us so we can operate what in business is called, a franchise. The idea was so strange to and surreal for my Dad. He went to their meeting and right in the middle of the dialogue, he asked them one question: If the founder of your ministry had sold off the ministry, would you be here today? They were shocked and ashamed of themselves.

He returned from that meeting sad and he began to share with us how till the late 60s, early 70s, churches had such strong bond and collaborations. He shared with me how if a church wanted to host a crusade or what they termed 'revival' meetings, other churches in that environment would donate chairs, music instruments, and give whatever support was needed to have a great meeting. Now, that looks more like one body! Or what do you think?

What has changed? Today, it seems certain ministries have become so arrogant and proud because they are financially rich hence, they are set to buy off ministries instead of supporting them. We saw them buy off 3-4 churches at different places in the neighbourhood with their logo slapped on the facilities. Church now operating franchises?! The end is really here.

Were you really sent to start a work?
Or you're just another hustler in a clergyman's robe?
Times like this will reveal.

For many who take such offers, the idea is that with a popular church's logo on their facility, many would troop into those places to join them. That's our present idea of 'ministry success'. Whether or not you agree with their message, structure and system, is secondary. As long as you can pull a crowd with the name, you have done well in ministry. It's a case of two desperate people striking a deal. No wonder we have more churches being planted without any meaningful impact in the lives of the people. 

*MEDITATION:*

*It's just a race to be the fastest growing church by planting a church in every five minutes driving distance, even if it is by buying other existing local churches. God will judge us all. This is definitely not what Jesus died and rose again to build. Things have gone really awry.*
