*MELCHIZEDEK* (The End)

_Key Bible Text:_
*Every high priest is appointed to present offerings and animal sacrifices to God, and so our High Priest must also have something to offer.
If he were on earth, he would not be a priest at all, since there are priests who offer the gifts required by the Jewish Law.* (Hebrews 8:3-4(GNB))

_Bible Insight:_

The high priests on earth indeed present offerings and animal sacrifices to God as an atonement for sin. Our High Priest, patterned after the order of Melchizedek offered his own body once and for all. Hebrews 9:28a (KJV) says *"So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many;"* He offered his very self and thereafter rose from the dead to take His place at the right hand of God to plead the cause of them that are being saved through His name. 

Indeed, if Christ was to be on earth, He would not have been able to operate after the pattern of priests made up by men because there was already a law that provided the terms for those who qualify to be priests and how they ought to operate. 

The work they (these priests made up of men) do as priests is really only a copy and a shadow of what is in heaven. It is the same as it was with Moses. When he was about to build the Sacred Tent, God told him, *Be sure to make everything according to the pattern you were shown on the mountain.*

But now, Jesus has been given priestly work which is superior to theirs, just as the covenant which He arranged between God and His people is a better one, because it is based on promises of better things.

We celebrate God for the new covenant!
