*The Advent of the Man Behind the Shadows* (III)

_Key Bible Text:_
*For a will means nothing while the person who made it is alive; it goes into effect only after his death. That is why even the first covenant went into effect only with the use of blood.* (Hebrews 9:17-18 (GNB))

_Bible Insight:_

*The Efficacy Of The Blood of Christ*

*How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?* (Hebrews 9:14 (KJV))

The blood of Christ! Oh, how much we owe to God for sending His son who freely shed His blood to deliver us from sin and sinful living! 

The death of Jesus allows the blood of Christ to set to work and this death (through the blood) sets people free from the wrongs they did while the first covenant was in effect or as a result of the first covenant. 

The reason Christ arranged the new covenant, is so that all who have been called by God (I.e. who believe the Gospel) may receive the eternal blessings that God has promised.
As in the case of Wills, the maker must be deceased before the Will will become effective and binding, likewise the death of Jesus, activated the new covenant. Also as the blood of animals played a vital role during the old covenant, likewise the blood of Jesus is the vital factor of the new covenant.  

Those things, which are copies of the heavenly originals, had to be purified in that way- using animal blood. But the heavenly things themselves require much better sacrifices. For Christ did not go into a Holy Place made by human hands, which was a copy of the real one. He went into heaven itself, where he now appears on our behalf in the presence of God.
The Jewish high priest goes into the Most Holy Place every year with the blood of an animal. But Christ did not go in to offer himself many times, for then he would have had to suffer many times ever since the creation of the world. Instead, now when all ages of time are nearing the end, he has appeared once and for all, to remove sin through the sacrifice of himself.

*Everyone must die once, and after that be judged by God. In the same manner Christ also was offered in sacrifice once to take away the sins of many. He will appear a second time, not to deal with sin, but to save those who are waiting for him.* (Hebrews 9:27-28 (GNB))
