PURE WATER* (II)

*PURE WATER* (II)

_Key Bible Text:_
*That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.* (Ephesians 5:26-27 (KJV))

_Bible Insight:_

*"Having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water"*

God requires that we come boldly before the throne of grace. However, He also requires that we get rid of evil conscience and any dirt or filth on our bodies: that's an inside out cleaning. He recognizes that we can't do this highly needed cleaning without His help. Hence, the need for the pure water that He provides. The question is, what's the pure water about?

In the word, certain symbols or items were used to refer to the Word of God. From Ephesians 5:26 for instance, the Bible graphically explains how Christ shows love to the church: that is, by sanctifying & cleansing the church with the *"washing of water by the word"* In other words, the word of God is symbolized by pure water! Hallelujah!

To buttress this point, John 15:3 (KJV) says, *"Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you."* Jesus said this to His disciples. The word is indeed a cleansing agent just as water is used for washing. The Psalmist also understood this. Psalms 119:9 (KJV) says,  *_"Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word."_*

So when the the Bible says _"Having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water"_  it tells us to recognize and open ourselves the ministry of the Word as we approach the presence of God or as we deepen our relationship with God, which shows itself in our day to day activities.

And yet, there is more about what pure water symbolize.

_MEDITATION:_
*For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?* (Hebrews 9:13-14 (KJV))
