*REDISCOVERING THE MESSAGE* (IX) 

_Key Bible Text:_
*But the solid foundation that God has laid cannot be shaken; and on it are written these words: "The Lord knows those who are his" and "Those who say that they belong to the Lord must turn away from wrongdoing."* (2 Timothy 2:19 (GNB))

_Bible Insight:_

John Knox was a great intercessor in Scotland whose prayer was feared by Queen Victoria, the sovereign ruler of that day. Like Finney, Spurgeon and other men who shook the world for Jesus. People think this gift or that anointing made them great, but we see that it is this recurring decimal of 2 Timothy 2:19 that made them fit for the Master's use - they NEVER downplayed or joked with the issue of sin. 

It wasn't only what they desired to receive from God through His grace, but what they desired to be taken away from them by God in His mercy. They wanted the Death of Christ to be their Death so that the Life of Christ could be their only living.

They knew and lived the righteousness of God in such a way that they wept and mourned over the sins of themselves, of the church and of the world. Having thus knelt at the Cross, when they stood to preach, it was not with the persuasive words of men but by the power of God. 

I agree with Francis Schaeffer when he said "I have come to the conclusion that none of us in our generation feels as guilty (or rather, sorrowful) about sin as we should or as our forefathers did."

Brethren, this is the difference.

*"Think of what he went through; how he put up with so much hatred from sinners! So do not let yourselves become discouraged and give up. For in your struggle against sin you have not yet had to resist to the point of being killed.* (Hebrews 12:3-4 (GNB))

Cool money! The world needs the power of God but it takes engaging money to bring the Gospel close enough, so that the world can hear and see the power of God.  We need money and materials things to push the Gospel. In our key text, we see the need to use worldly wealth to make friends who will be brought closer to the opportunity to hear the Gospel and be saved. Use worldly wealth. You don't need to wait until you have enough of it. You will never have enough. However, you can decide to use the worldly wealth you have for soul winning.
